Woden House Tour

Eighteen people toured this typical Canberra home which has been extensively renovated this year.

Key aspects included making a poorly oriented house a much more comfortable and less energy intensive, without the need for a knock down & rebuild.

Great design was also a primary feature, which has created a beautiful home. This has resulted in  increased usability of the space, with minimal change to the overall footprint of the house.

The owners and architect researched many building materials and internal components to assess sustainability with a focus on local and Australian products. Plus many materials from demolished sections of the home were reused .The builder was a great partner who was able to accommodate requests and value add to decisions on best options for the build.

In all the result was a quality, well-sealed and insulated house that makes best use of the sun and the site within the constraints of retaining much of the original house.
