Seed bomb demonstration

On Saturday 17th September members of the SEE-Change Gungahlin group partnered with Canberra Seed-Savers to host a demonstration on how to make seed bombs.

Seed bombs are small balls that contain all the basic ingredients for plants to grow. The idea is to throw the “bomb” in a place where some green, colour and even vegetables might grow in the urban landscape.

Using a recipe that consisted of 5 parts clay, 3 parts home-grown compost, 1 part seeds (flowers and vegetables) and 1-2 parts water we cooked up a storm with the local Bonner guerrilla gardeners.

This was a great opportunity to promote our local group to the wider Gungahlin community and we are grateful to Communities@Work for inviting us to participate in what was a fun and friendly day.
