Passivhaus Tour – Summer 2017!

73 lucky people attended the SEE-Change Sustainable house tour in February 2017 and had the opportunity to see this beautiful PassivHaus just outside Gundaroo.

This rural home tour showcased a simple, but elegant design, using German PassivHaus principles, with power supplied from an off-grid 9kW Solar system. The home has been built to a passive-solar design, constructed of natural materials where possible, minimising the chemical toxicity of the building materials, and leverages appropriate levels of technology to reduce the ongoing operational costs for heating, cooling, power and water.

All these design features mean that even on cold winter days the temperature of the home doesn’t drop below 19.2 degrees. Summer temperatures are also remaining very comfortable; from between 18 and 25 degrees.

This beautiful home has recently been awarded the HIA Greensmart Energy Efficient house of the year for ACT/Southern NSW.
