Canberra Cooperatives and Commons Development Group Meeting
Canberra Co-ops Group
Cooperatives, Commons, and Communities Canberra (Co-Canberra)
The meeting will be a half-hour earlier than usual, starting at 5:30pm at the Gang Gang Cafe in Downer
This will allow us to leap over the shrubbery at 6:30 to the Downer Community Centre to join in on the Farmshare focus group. This is a proposal for a co-op style farm based at Castle Hill near Tharwa.

The meeting agenda will be:
1 – Updates on existing Co-Canberra projects: the Pre-Power Renewable Energy Co-op, and an electrical trade based worker owned self-directed Co-op. If you would like to know more about these, or help out, please come along.
2 – An update on the Caroola Farm community buyout proposal. We will know by then if the idea has the support to go ahead.
Caroola Farm is an established, working, certified organic permaculture farm at Mulloon near Bungendore, NSW on 100 Acres. It has been running multiple enterprises, and has the potential to layer many more on top of those.
Caroola recently went up for sale, and we are gathering expressions of interest from people who would like to band together to buy it and keep it as a working permaculture co-operative farm.
If we can gather sufficient interest to put in a feasible bid, we may be able to buy ourselves time to organise a cohesive co-operative offer.
Contact email@example.com for more info.
3 – general discussion
You can add items on the day, which will be addressed if time allows
December 31 – perhaps a party somewhere?
Co-Canberra is here to provide ongoing support and resources for new and existing organisations in Canberra and its surrounds who align with our goals.
These goals are:
To invent, facilitate, implement and support resilient ways of providing for our needs, while recognising the natural limits inherent to the places we live, and designing our new systems within those limits.
To invent, facilitate, implement and support ways of providing equality amongst all humans, and a fair and decent life for other beings.
To begin this change at the local level, scaling up to broader community horizons as local needs are progressively met, providing that the skills and resources to do so are available.
To make the designs, results and methods we work on as easy as possible to share with and distribute to others who share the same goals, to help them set up their own similar groups.
To communicate clearly and accessibly with the general public about why these changes (see 1 and 2) are a good thing, and why they are necessary.
To work alongside other groups who can help us further our goals.
To use the patterns of the Natural World as a guide in our design work – “What would Nature do?”
