Enabling change in our Society, Environment and Economy (SEE)

Demonstration Home Education

SEE Change received $22,160 in November 2017 to engage project home builders and developers to build more sustainably and promote living with a smaller environmental footprint.

This project will produce a suite of practical education and information resources, materials and activities for the community, which supports and explains (including through videos) the principles behind an exemplary sustainable demonstration home and zero emissions lifestyle in the ACT. The focus will be on energy, buildings, transport, waste and social engagement.

Workshops and events will be held that strengthen engagement, marketing and awareness of sustainable buildings and zero emission lifestyles, local sustainable organisations and other government initiatives, to project home companies, builders, trades and the general public.

A demonstration home, which builds upon the free Your Home Design For Place house plans, will be used for educating the ACT community and also be used to engage people around Australia and internationally.

Your New Home Buyer’s Guide

As part of this initiative, a free online step-by-step guide for those building or buying a new home has been developed.
